As actors, we are often told to disregard what the audience is thinking while we are performing. I grew up learning that if we think too much about the audience during the show, we’ll stop acting and start judging ourselves instead. I was taught that if you really stay in character, you won’t think about the audience because, after all, the character you’re playing does not know there is an audience there.
